Help us reach our goal!

Team Camille (Deb Brennan, Bernardo Campos, Kris Elo, Laureen Franklin, Drew LaForge, Cindy Morrison, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Richards, Lisa Rehberg, Caden Vanderbyl, Andy Vinciquerra, and Katie Zabrocki) is training for the 200 mile Southern California Ragnar Relay on April 6-7, 2018, and have chosen to raise money for essential research of effective treatments and to find a cure for Rett Syndrome for Camille who was born with this horrible disorder.

Rett syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder occurring almost exclusively in females and becoming apparent after 6-18 months of early normal development. The resulting regression leads to lifelong impairments, including lost speech, seizures, scoliosis, irregular breathing patterns, and more than half of the children and women lose the ability to walk. Those diagnosed with Rett syndrome require maximum assistance with basic daily activities.

Your donation will help fund important research and family support. This cause is very important to me and I appreciate your help as we fight for a cure for Rett syndrome!

Despite the hardships, we count our blessings daily for the joy Cam brings us in her smiles and happy sounds. Although we have never heard Camille speak any real words, she "speaks" plenty every day with her eyes and her laughs, and continues to work at being proficient on her eye gaze computer to communicate.

We also feel very fortunate she still has the ability to walk. Over 50% of Rett girls also lose the ability to move on their own. We have faith that there is a cure in the near future. Rett Syndrome is the first neurological brain disorder where the gene mutation has been specifically identified.

Finding a cure for Rett Syndrome is not only important for the many girls suffering from it directly, it could also be the link to finding cures for other neurological brain disorders that have affected those close to many of us like Alzheimer's, epilepsy, and Parkinson's disease. Please help us raise needed funds and get awareness out there so research can continue to move forward. Camille is again participating in another drug trial that is showing positive results. Your donations will continue to make research and clinical trials like this possible. These girls are amazing and deserve to be free from this horrible neurological disorder.

Please join us or donate to our efforts to support Rettsyndrome.org in finding a cure!
